The Quiet Luxury of Two Feet and an Hour to Spare

Imagine stepping away from the noise of your day, and slipping into the cosiest therapy bed ever (or so my clients tell me !). Find yourself enveloped in hot steamy towels, gifting yourself an hour where every touch is designed to calm your nervous system, balance your hormones, and reconnect you with your body ! A Sanctuary for your Wellbeing.

World Reflexology Week

World Reflexology Week

This week is World Reflexology Week, the 22nd to the 28th of September 2026, a global celebration shining a light on this gentle yet powerful therapy for helping to ease your stress, improve your sleep, supporting hormonal balance, aiding digestive comfort and lots more.

Reflexologists up and down Ireland, and all over the world, are marking it in our own quiet way. Mine is this post. I've been doing this work for over ten years now, and if I'm honest, I still get a small thrill explaining it to someone new and even more, seeing how much better ladies feel after their treatment.

💡 Gentle Reminder: The benefits of reflexology are often cumulative. World Reflexology Week is an ideal moment to start a short course of sessions and notice how your body responds over time.

So What Do I Mean by Quiet Luxury

I use these words on purpose. Reflexology isn't luxurious because it's a treat you feel guilty booking, or because the room smells nice, though mine does 🕯️.

It's luxurious because for one hour, someone is paying full attention to you and their aim is to make you feel really comfortable, safe and pampered. No phones. No one talking over you. Just your feet, or maybe your face, or hands, in someone's hands, while the rest of the world gets on without you for a while. Try finding that anywhere else these days!

How Reflexology Works

It's like a gentle conversation with your body ! Reflexology is based on the idea that the body is mapped onto the reflexes in your feet, hands, and face. These reflexes are specific points and zones that correspond to organs, glands, and systems throughout your body. By applying precise, comforting pressure to these points, I invite your body to:

  • Relax deeply and move out of “fight or flight” mode

  • Improve circulation and lymphatic flow

  • Support hormonal and nervous system balance

  • Release areas of tension or congestion reflected in the reflexes

You remain fully clothed (apart from shoes and socks for foot work) and simply rest while I work methodically over each area. Many clients drift into a light sleep as the body shifts into its natural healing state. What's not to love about this !

Your Feet. Face and Hands as a Map

Here's the bit that still gets me, ten years in to doing this amazing treatment.

Every part of you shows up somewhere on your feet, face, hands and even other extremities such as the ears. These small reflex points that connect back to an organ, a gland, a whole system working away without you giving it a second thought. Working the arch of your foot is your spine, working the toes is your head, sinuses etc, under your toes is your neck and down at your ankle is your womb and ovaries.

It sounds almost unbelievable, but yet, I'll press somewhere and a client will say, oh, that's that feels sore, what's that you're working on ? When I tell them they'll say "Oh, that makes sense". I'm not guessing. It's a proper skill, which I have built, developed and trained in, over the years. And when a point feels tight or tender, it's usually the body flagging something is out of balance. Working through the tightness is, more often than not, how things start to settle again.

I also "Read" your feet. Sometimes ladies feel embarrassed because their feet look terrible, but I LOVE nothing more than seeing feet like this arriving in my treatment room. This is because they tell me another story about what's going on with you emotionally and in your life. Ladies are usually surprised when I tell them what's going on mentally and emotionally.

An Award Winning Therapist for Women's Health

I say I'm an award winning reflexologist, and I am (8 times over !), but what that really means after ten years is that, I've a treatment to meet you where you're at, your life stage and even how you're feeling on the day of your appointment. Feet, obviously. But also hands, for anyone who can't bear their feet being touched, and the face, which is its own small, wonderful map, and does a different kind of good again. It is amazing for settling a busy mind. And if you can't make up your mind which therapy you want, you can mix and match by adding "mini" version to your full treatment.

My real love, if I'm being honest, is fertility, or more precisely, infertility, a path which I journeyed for 7 whole years myself. I love supporting ladies through fertility and pregnancy, until they are holding their baby in their arms. That's where I've done my deepest training and where my heart properly sits.

Recently, I journeyed through the threshold of menopause, so I have experience and training for this milestone also. It can be a very tumultuous time for any woman and I have found Reflexology to be brilliant for hot flushes, night sweats and other pesky symptoms. However, the treatment needs to be done regularly to keep symptoms at bay.

But plenty of the women coming to me aren't on any particular journey at all, they're just women having a hard month, and looking for some time out, away from it all. And I love that work every bit as much. Women are cyclical, so we are a different person for each week of our cycle, even if you are no longer menstruating !!

For Whatever Stage You're At in Your Life's Journey

Fertility Reflexology

Every woman's journey is different. Reflexology offers a safe, respectful space to be heard, held, and supported as your body changes and adapts.

During a treatment, I pay particular attention to reflexes that support women's health, especially around fertility, pregnancy, and menopause. On the feet, for example, we might focus on:

  • Endocrine reflexes – such as the pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal glands, which influence hormones, energy, and stress responses.

  • Reproductive reflexes – including the ovaries, uterus, and related pelvic areas, offering gentle support for cycles, conception, and menopausal shifts.

  • Digestive reflexes – linked to the stomach, intestines, and liver, which often benefit from extra care during pregnancy and periods of stress.

  • Spinal and nervous system reflexes – running along the inner edge of the foot, supporting posture, pain relief, and emotional resilience.

On the hands and face, similar reflex areas are used to gently influence the same systems. The touch is always adapted to your stage of life, your comfort, and your goals for the session.

All the 'ologies !

Fertility Reflexology, works with your natural menstrual cycle or your IVF treatment and it often involves calming a nervous system that's been on edge for months. It can be really powerful combined with EFT Tapping or Kundalini Magnetic Resonance Therapy (KMRT).

In Pregnancy, it's frequently the one hour a woman gets cared for instead of caring for everyone else, which, if you've ever been heavily pregnant, you'll know is rarer than it should be. Again, it can help with the niggles you might have going on in your back, sciatica and pelvis. Combined with EFT Tapping and KMRT, it is a powerful all round treatment for supporting your pregnancy, labour and birth. Sometimes, including the Winner Flow device training is an amazing support tool using and teaching you to use your breath for especially labour and birth.

Through Menopause, Reflexology can bring a steadiness while everything else seems to be shifting underneath you.

And for Wellbeing, the ones where nothing dramatic is happening, just life being a lot, it's simply permission to stop, relax and rejuvenate. Giving you the strength to get on with your day, week and month. A time to come back to you.

📌 Key Takeaway: Reflexology does not claim to diagnose or cure, but it can be a powerful companion to medical care, helping your body feel safer, calmer, and more supported from the inside out.

What I Pair It With

therapies

Reflexology can be paired with many other therapies, depending on what you need on the day, I'll bring in Facial Reflexology or a Zone Face Lift, or Indian Head Massage if your shoulders, jaw or sinuses are struggling.

If you are really stressed over a situation, or life in general, I will include EFT Tapping or KMRT and breathwork. But reflexology is where it starts for me, and where it'll probably always come back to. Simple. Old as anything. And somehow still exactly what half the women I meet didn't know they were missing.

Booking a Womban Session, which is usually around 1.5 hours, gives us plenty of time to combine therapies to give you exactly what you need to get you back on your feet. Sessions are unhurried, nurturing, and tailored to you
