🌹Feminine Yoga: Moving with the Moon and Your Sacred Womb Wisdom

“When we move with the moon, we remember that we are not linear beings, but cyclical—like the earth, like the sea, like the sky. We are part of a great, sacred rhythm, and our wombs hold the wisdom of the ages.”

Living the Cyclical Nature of the Feminine

Feminine Yoga is rooted in the understanding that everything about us is cyclical. Hormones rise and fall. Moods shift. Creativity waxes and wanes. Just as we accept the changing seasons outside, this practice invites us to accept the seasons within. There is a Summer of expansion. A Winter of retreat. Springtime beginnings. Autumnal letting go. No phase is more worthy than another.

This cyclical view extends beyond the physical body. It influences how we work, rest, and relate with others. When we acknowledge that our energy and focus are forever changing, we can plan our days with more compassion. We become more discerning about what we say Yes to. In this way, Feminine Yoga becomes a form of self-governance. You choose, how to use your limited resources. Your consent matters in every arena of life, not only in movement.

So ladies, as women, we carry the moon within us. Our bodies are not just vessels of life, but sacred temples that ebb and flow with the same rhythm as the tides and the same cycle as the moon. We're reminded that our yoga practice can be a tender, loving dialogue with the wisdom of our wombs, a wisdom as ancient as the earth itself.

Yoga was designed by men for men, but in feminine yoga we choose to do it a different way. It is not about pushing, striving, or forcing. It is about listening. It is about sinking into the softness of your being, allowing your breath to guide you like a gentle river, and trusting the innate intelligence of your body. Here, on your mat, you are not just moving. You are remembering the sacredness of your cyclical nature, the power of your intuition, and the deep, unshakable connection you share with the moon and all of creation.

The Moon and Your Womb: A Sacred Dance

Did you know that your menstrual cycle and the lunar cycle are both approximately 29.5 days? This is no coincidence. The new moon, with its dark, quiet energy, mirrors the Menstrual Phase, a time for rest, for turning inward, for nourishing the soil of your soul. And just as the moon waxes and wanes, so too does your energy rise and fall, your creativity blooms and retreats, your emotions swell and soften.

🌑When you align your yoga practice with these cycles, you are not just moving your body—you are honouring your soul. During your Menstrual Phase, let your practice be slow, gentle, and restorative.

Allow yourself to be held by the earth in Balasana (Child’s Pose) or to surrender into the embrace ofSupta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Goddess).

This is your Winter time!

Sun Salutations

🌒As you move into your Follicular Phase, your energy starts to quietly build like the Waxing Moon. Try flowing through your sun salutations. Open your heart to the sky, and set intentions that feel as expansive as the universe.

🌕And oh, the Full Moon! This is the time of Ovulation, when your energy is radiant, your spirit is vibrant, and your heart is open wide.

Dance through dynamic flows, let your hips sway in Goddess pose, and celebrate the fiery, creative power that lives within you.

🌘Then, as the Moon Wanes and your Luteal Phase begins to slow down once more. It could be a time of irritation or anger so be kind to yourself if you have signs of PMS. You return to the earth, to stillness, to the quiet whisperings of your womb.

You are in the Autumn time now !

A Practice for Every Phase of Your Cycle

As we look at at the moon phases and the corresponding points in the menstrual cycle, it should be noted that not every woman will ovulate on the full moon or bleed on the dark moon. It is individual for every woman. However, the energies of the moon phases remain the same. In my 🌹Womb & Bloom community, my Feminine Yoga classes follow the moon cycle. This is why it is important for you to listen to your body and work accordingly. Trying to push through a class when you feel tired, will do you no good. It will leave you depleted and we don't want that.

Menstrual and Moon cycle

Many women find it helpful to weave the moon cycle into their Feminine Yoga practice. I have read that if you start paying attention to the energies of the moon cycle and your body, that the two could possibly come into alignment. You begin to see that, like the lunar cycle, you are allowed to renew yourself regularly.

So, step onto your mat with an open heart and a curious spirit. Let your practice be a love letter to your cyclical nature, a dance with the moon, and a celebration of the divine feminine that lives within you. Your womb is wise, your heart is open, and your soul is ready to remember.
